Something of the marvelous

Wow, it seems like forever since I posted anything. I've spent the last couple of mornings out in the backyard looking for little treasures and this is what I found.

First thing this morning I started taking photos of the Oak tree next to the house.  I have so many photos of this tree.  Today I found this Acorn cap cluster and thought it looked interesting.

This female Cardinal landed on the fence near where I was sitting.  Then she flew into the tree next to me.

This is my favorite photo of her.  I love the side view.  What a beautiful bird!

I have no idea what this is but I like it.

Some type of Lichen/fungus growing on the fence near the house.  It reminds me of a coral reef.  Pretty whatever it is.

  2. Love the acorns...they have always looked like little caps to me.
The cardinals are especially pretty; I put out some seed for them yesterday. They love those sunflower seeds!
    You photos are lovely, Cindy.
I always enjoy each time you post your work; you are an incredible photographer.
Take care of you, my friend...and your Dad, and your Annie and Charlie.
    Hugs and love,

    1. Thank you Jackie. I sprinkled some bird seed on the tops of some fence posts hoping to attract some more birds. No luck yet. Dad is doing better. No broken bones or hip. Very good news. Charlie and Annie are doing fine. Hope everything is going well with you and the family. Have a great weekend.

      Hugs,

  3. I just love your photos Cindy. I wish you had been with me yesterday. I spotted a female and male Cardinal and a Blue Jay in the yard along with a few Robins. They were all looking quite territorial at the time! Would have made for some interesting photos!
    Love Di ♥

    1. Thank you Di! I love Cardinals and Blue Jays and Robins are great too. That would have been great. Speaking of territorial, I saw two fat brownish red birds fighting the other morning. They actually fell out of the tree at my feet. I wasn't quick enough with my camera to get a shot though. Maybe they are all getting frisky because they know spring will be on its way soon. At least I hope it will.

      Have a great weekend,
      Cindy

  4. I too was wondering about Spring. It's unusual to see Blue Jays this time of year!

    1. Hi Di,

I have in the past week seen male and female cardinals, the one Blue Jay, a Tufted Titmouse, Chickadees, a Brown Thrasher, a Red-bellied Woodpecker and a couple of Mockingbirds. I really wish the Blue Jay, Tufted Titmouse and Chickadees would come around more often. I'd really love to get some good photos of them. Maybe as the weather gets a little warmer. Even here in Spring Hill we've had some very cool days.

      Have a great week.
