The Crow

"Look for rain when the crow flies low." ~Anonymous (American Folklore saying)

You may not can tell but there was a soft rain falling when I took the photo.  There were two huge crows sitting in an old tree in the backyard.  This one sat atop the tree fluffing his feathers and spreading his wings before I went and got my camera.  Because the day is so dreary and dark the original photo was mostly in silhouette so I just went with it when editing the shot.  The shadowy tree is an Oak and is in the foreground.  I transferred the photo to my iPad and used two different apps to get the desired look.  I used one called "PhotoToaster" to get the antiqued look, the vignette and the soft focus frame.  Then I used an app called "LensLight" to add a filter called gothic.

It's been raining here all morning and as I write this post I can see some sun light starting to come into the bedroom window.  The sky is still overcast dreary and I'm sure the rain isn't finished with us yet.  It's funny how you can go days and days or even weeks without rain and complain that we need it so bad but when it finally rains, all you want is for it to stop so you can get outside.

Happy blogging and wishing everyone a fantastic Tuesday.

~Cindy

  2. So "Edgar Allen Poeish"!! It is frigid and rainy today. When I was munching on my lunch in the kitchen I saw two hawks fly onto a nearby branch. I ran to get my camera and go outdoors. I sat outside under our outdoor table (with umbrella) shivering and waiting for them to come back, but I gave up. Back indoors where it's nice a toasty!

    1. Thank you so much! Rain and cool here but not frigid. I was wishing the other day that I had some kind of shelter to get under, so I could still be outside and take photos when raining but I have nothing. I envy you and your umbrella. Lol. Keep an eye out for them. I'm sure they'll be back. As for me I'm waiting on a Bald Eagle that keeps flying over but he's too far to get a good shot.

  4. Thank you for sharing how you edited this photo; it's lovely.
And, yes...I can tell it was raining when you took it.
Thankfully, our rain is gone now, I think. We did need it...but it rained so much here in South Georgia that our schools were cancelled on Tuesday because the rural roads were completely flooded. The river near here is way over the flood stage.
But...not complaining. We needed the rain.
    Have a lovely week, Cindy.
    Love,
    J.

    1. Thank you Jackie and you're welcome. Sounds like your area really got it bad. We had puddles and that's about it. Hope you are staying dry and away from dangerous waters. I agree we needed the rain too but really wish I didn't want to get out when it decides to rain.

Jackie, did I answer your last email? I honestly don't know and if I didn't I am so sorry. I know I started to but can't remember if I finished and sent it. Unfortunately I emptied my sent folder and so I have no way of telling. I'm having some memory issues with this heart stuff and its aggravating to say the least. It's the email where you told me about protecting your Satsuma tree.

      Hugs,
      Cindy

    2. You answered it, my friend.
      I haven't posted you back yet...but I will.
We have been trying to "dig out" from all the water here. Went to Daddy's and Mama's today...
      I'll e-mail you this week.
      Hugs and love,
      J.
