Little Drummer

"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting." ~Charles Kingsley

Interesting fact about woodpeckers (that I didn't know) is that they don't sing songs but instead make drumming sounds which serve the same purpose.  Downy Woodpeckers have a Pik, Whinny and a drum sound in their repertoire.

Wishing everyone a terriffic Thursday.

    1. Thank you so much Jackie. I assumed they sang songs just like other birds. I guess I never really paid that much attention to what noises they made. Hope you're having a terrific Thursday.

      Hugs,
      Cindy

  3. What a lovely cute picture of the little woodpecker.
That must be why sometimes you hear them drumming on the aluminum siding. They must like the noise. : )

  8. It's amazing how much damage these little critters can make. We had a palm tree outside of our 2nd story window in Ft. Lauderdale and the woodpeckers would make a terrible racket while hollowing out the tree with their pecking! Cute shots!

    1. They are cute but I never really thought about how destructive and noisy they are. Hope your Palm survived.
