Zebra Longwing (I think)

I found this little butterfly on the Lantana growing next to the fence.  I think it's called a Zebra Longwing, also known as the Florida State Butterfly (not the university).

"Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you."  ~Nathanial Hawthorne

Wishing everyone a marvelous Monday and rest of the week.

Until next time...

  2. It is hard for me to get a decent butterfly shot. Great job!!
They are beautiful, but they don't like to pose for me; they flit from blossom to blossom and I tend to find myself chasing them around and around. So pleased that you got this shot...and such a pretty butterfly, too.
Hugs and love to you, my friend.

    1. Thanks Jackie. I can just see you chasing them around the yard. LOL! :). They are rather hard to photograph, always on the move. I will admit I was just plain lucky with this one.

      Hugs,
      Cindy

  3. Very nice, Cindy. Butterflies are hard for me to capture...probably too slow on the shutter! :) Have you ever been to the Butterfly World at UF in Gainesville. I've heard it's very nice.

    1. Hi Lowell and thank you. They can be a real pain to photograph but this time it wasn't too bad. I was lucky. I've never been there but sounds like it might be interesting. I think I'll check it out online.
